Whitestar Quarry in Gibsonburg , OH

Depths:    Main Quarry 50ft, Depths to 70ft

Details:    This is an excellent small quarry for local diving near Toledo, OH. The quarry has a max depth of about 70ft. The main quarry has depths to 50ft, with sunken boats, training platforms, cars, a potato chip truck, and stocked fish. The "tunnel" is off limits. Air fills are available onsite for $7 and there is a $15 registration fee (season pass available for $150). The gates open at 8 am; the visibility is best if you're in the water before the 9am "student rush". There are two walk-in entrances. We use this quarry for our training dives, gear checkouts, and some fun dives.

Directions: From I 75 north or south get off at the exit in Perrysburg for Route 20. Take route 20 east. Turn right on to state road 300 and go south towards Gibsonburg. Go 3/4 mile past the downtown of Gibsonburg and Whitestar will be on your left hand side. Follow the signs for scuba.

Portage Quarry near Bowling Green, OH

Depths:    Maximum Depth 70ft

Details:    Located just south of Bowling Green, Portage Quarry is convenient and fun.  Air fills are $6 (3000psi) and $7 (3300psi), and admission is $12 ($175 season passes are available). During the week, the dive shop is available for air fills upon call by gate keeper. Within the quarry are training platforms, boats, cars, an airplane, a motorcycle, and a semi-trailer. There are changing facilities and porta-potties at the dive site entries. We often use this quarry for our Friday night fun dives.

Directions: From I-75 North or South get off at exit 179 and take Route 6 west. Follow Route 6 for 1 1/2 miles to State Route 25 South. Follow State Route 25 for approximately 1 mile South and Portage Quarry will be on your right.

Gilboa Quarry near Findlay, OH.

Depths:    Shallows 5-65ft, with depths to 120ft+

Details:      This quarry has something for all levels of divers. Enter from the shore in the "shallow end," or off the wall in the "deep end" (dive plan is required). Within the quarry are boats, cars, a school bus, underwater platforms, a sunken airplane, and much more. Admission is $15 and air fills are $8.

Directions:  From I-75 North or South get off at exit 159 or State Road 224. Turn West on to State Road 224. Go about 15 miles and turn left on to County Road 4 (Pearl St.) just after the grain elevator. Turn right at the 4 way stop sign or Main St. just before the bridge. Head past downtown and the quarry will be located on the left hand side. Look for the Gilboa stone quarry sign.
